Mech & Robotics Tech (Amazon RME)

The Mechanical & Robotics Technician supports the operations and maintenance team by installing, maintaining, and repairing material handling equipment, pneumatic systems, and automated packaging and distribution equipment. You will diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical issues, perform preventive and predictive maintenance, and help ensure reliable operation of conveyors, robotics, and electromechanical systems throughout the facility. In this role, you also mentor junior technicians, contribute to a strong safety culture, and collaborate closely with operations teams to keep material flow running efficiently.

• Promote a safe working environment by consistently following all safety procedures and standards.
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance routines on material handling equipment, robotic systems, and related infrastructure, and document all work accurately.
• Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems on Material Handling Equipment (MHE), including conveyors, motors, belts, photo-eyes, relays, sensors, and pneumatic systems.
• Install, maintain, and repair automated packaging and distribution equipment, ensuring minimal downtime and high equipment reliability.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot robotic and electromechanical equipment, including basic PLC input and output functions.
• Conduct diagnostics using blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical documentation to identify and resolve equipment issues.
• Perform repairs and fabrication tasks involving metal and wood to support equipment maintenance and improvement projects.
• Use a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to track work orders, record maintenance activities, and manage equipment history.
• Track, organize, and store department inventory, parts, tools, and materials to support efficient maintenance operations.
• Maintain a positive working relationship with operations and maintenance teams across the facility, supporting a collaborative and solutions-focused environment.
• Support project activities, including planning, coordination, and execution of maintenance and improvement initiatives.
• Work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and support multiple areas or shifts as needed.
• Travel up to approximately 20% of the time, as required by operational needs.
• Perform physically demanding tasks such as standing and walking for shifts up to 12 hours, lifting parts and tools up to 49 pounds, and working in varied environmental conditions.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to work flexible schedules, shifts, and areas, including weekends, nights, and holidays.
• At least 1 year of experience using PCs and Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Experience performing preventive and predictive maintenance on industrial equipment.
• Hands-on experience troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems in an industrial environment.
• Experience maintaining and repairing Material Handling Equipment (MHE), including conveyors, motors, belts, photo-eyes, relays, sensors, and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to install, maintain, and repair automated packaging and distribution equipment.
• Basic experience with PLC and I/O troubleshooting.
• Ability to interpret blueprints and electrical schematics.
• Foundational knowledge of electrical and electronic principles.
• Experience with robotic and electromechanical equipment operation and maintenance.
• Capability to work safely in physically demanding conditions, including repetitive bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching, twisting, standing, and walking.
• Ability to lift parts and tools averaging 20 pounds and occasionally up to 49 pounds.
• Strong attention to detail and accurate documentation of maintenance activities.

• Associate degree or higher from a vocational school or college with a focus in mechanical or electrical fields.
• 2+ years of experience with automated conveyor systems and controls.
• 2+ years of experience in the repair of material handling equipment.
• 2+ years of experience conducting predictive and preventive maintenance procedures.
• 1+ year of experience in metal and wood fabrication.
• 1+ year of experience reading and interpreting blueprints and electrical schematics.
• 1+ year of experience applying electrical and electronic principles in an industrial setting.
• Experience working with Material Handling Equipment (MHE) in accordance with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and safety standards.
• Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Experience with robotic or electromechanical operation and maintenance in an industrial environment.
• Experience troubleshooting basic PLC input and output functions.
• Project management experience related to maintenance or engineering projects.
• 2+ years of industrial maintenance experience (conveyors, electrical systems, motors, pneumatic systems, and material handling equipment).
• Comfort working on all shifts and in a non-residential, non-automotive industrial environment.

This role is based in a large industrial operations facility that utilizes advanced material handling equipment, automated conveyor systems, robotics, and electromechanical equipment. You will work closely with operations and maintenance teams, frequently using tools, diagnostic equipment, computers, and a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to manage work orders and maintenance records. The position requires flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and may involve travel of up to approximately 20%. The physical environment includes repetitive bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching, twisting, standing, and walking, as well as lifting parts and tools averaging 20 pounds and occasionally up to 49 pounds. You may work in small spaces and be exposed to dust, fumes or odors, hot and cold temperatures, indoor and outdoor conditions, noise, vibration, standing on concrete for long periods, and wet or uneven surfaces. Appropriate work attire and personal protective equipment are required to ensure safety in this industrial setting.

This is a Contract position based out of Tyler, TX.

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $28.00/hr.
