Position Overview
The Sheet Metal Mechanic Fabricator is responsible for fabricating, assembling, installing, and repairing production sheet metal products and equipment, such as control boxes, drain pipes, ventilators, furnace casings, and related components. Work is performed in accordance with blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications within a safety-regulated industrial environment.
This position requires precision craftsmanship, strong blueprint reading skills, and strict adherence to OSHA safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
• Interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications • Perform sheet metal layout and measurements • Set up and operate sheet metal fabrication machinery • Shape metal over anvils, blocks, and forms • Operate welding and soldering equipment • Fabricate and assemble components to required tolerances • Install fabricated sheet metal products • Inspect assemblies and installations for conformance to specifications • Monitor and verify quality using statistical process control methods • Follow all OSHA and site safety regulations
Required Skills & Experience
Experience in sheet metal fabrication and installation Proficiency in blueprint reading and layout work Experience operating fabrication equipment, brakes, shears, rollers, presses Welding and soldering experience Ability to work with close tolerances Strong attention to detail and quality standards
