SUMMARY: This position is primarily responsible for performing preventative and corrective maintenance, as directed by the Truck Shop foreman, on vehicles ranging from autos and pickups through class 8 trucks and trailers, knuckle-boom cranes, forklifts, small motor driven equipment and other rental equipment. While assuring shop and field work compliance with all regulatory standards, the Truck Shop mechanic is also responsible for maintaining equipment operation by completing inspections and preventive maintenance requirements, correcting vehicle deficiencies and by making adjustments and alignments.

QUALIFICATIONS:
High school degree, diploma or a GED equivalent qualification from an accredited institution.
Bachelor's degree or an associate's degree or diploma in mechanical or automotive engineering or any other related field of study, with 2 - 3 years of experience of working as a fleet mechanic.
Certificates, licenses and registrations required:
Must possess a valid and clean commercial Class A Drivers License issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles.
Knowledge of engines, transmissions and controls
Knowledge of brakes and suspensions
Skilled in diagnosis and repair of electrical systems on trucks and equipment
Skilled in DOT inspections
Other skills required:

Demonstrated ability to anticipate and solve practical problems
