Steel Drilling, LLC is a rapidly expanding stone quarry and construction drilling contractor. As a team of Drillers, Helpers, and Mechanics we work with our customers to provide a valuable and professional service.
At Steel Drilling, LLC we work with and around heavy equipment and operate in different locations every few days. We are looking for someone who wants to grow with the company as we grow and change to meet the needs of our customers.
Steel Drilling is accepting applications for a mobile mechanic. A valid Driver's License is required. The job requires physical labor, you must wear proper company provided PPE (including but not limited to hard hat, ear plugs, vest, harness), have steel toed boots (company has boot reimbursement program each year to each employee), must pass pre-employment physical and drug/alcohol test, be subject to random testing, maintain a company paid DOT medical certificate, and adhere to ALL safety protocols of Steel Drilling and its customers.
Employee must be able to stand and work for extended periods of time, drive for an extended period of time, have full range of movements including bending, reaching, crouching, and be able to frequently lift 75+ lbs. Uniforms can be provided because you will get dirty.
As a mobile mechanic for a stone quarry drilling & construction drilling company you will be working with pick-up trucks, quarry trucks, track drills, T4BH drills on crane carriers, compressors and other heavy equipment at the quarries and construction sites as needed in the Rockaway, NJ area and surrounding 2 hour radius with occasional jobs further out of the area.
You will be working in all weather conditions and exposed to loud noise and moving parts. You will be responsible for troubleshooting, emergency repairs as needed, corrective measures, PM's that can be done in the field for trucks, drills, and compressors in a timely manner while adhering to all safety protocols. Must have considerable knowledge of heavy equipment & heavy truck repair, assembly, maintenance, & diagnostics of the equipment/truck, experience with hydraulics, considerable amount of knowledge of tools, equipment, and procedures of PM's, general maintenance & emergency repairs.
In this position you will be working Monday through Friday, a minimum of 40 hours with overtime as needed. Additionally, there is potential of out of town work which would require you to be away from home OVERNIGHT. If OVERNIGHT work is required Steel Drilling pays for hotel accomodations and you receive a $45.00 per diem per night.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be able to maintain records and report all maintenance & reapirs for all vehicles & equipment.
- Be able to communicate effectively between yourself, the driller, other mechanics, the quarry or construction supervisor as well as vendors, outside contractors and Steel Drilling Management.
- Maintain good housekeeping on all sitesand your truck.
- You will be responsible to make sure your truck is loaded and restocked with proper equipment, tools, parts and other products needed for most general issues.
- Must complete daily inspections of your work truck and other equipment used.
