The duties include but are not limited to: • Repairs and exchanges gas and diesel engines. • Repairs and exchanges transmissions. • Repairs and exchanges differentials. • Inspects buses. • Overhauls air or hydraulic brake systems. • Repairs steering gears. • Repairs electrical and ignition systems. • Drives fuel truck and dispenses fuel as required. • Changes oil filter and chassis lubrication. • Shuttles buses to/from locations. • Furnishes all necessary hand tools. • Overtime may be required. • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must be a high school graduate from a regionally accredited school or have GED equivalent. Must be able to read and understand all written materials, work orders, and shop manuals. Must be able to complete all paper work pertaining to job. Should have A.S.E. certificate or diploma from technical school in truck or auto repair, no less than eight years in shop experience or be certified as a State School Bus Mechanic. Must be willing and physically able to perform any and all duties assigned while on duty. Must possess or be able to obtain Alabama State Bus Certificate and Commercial Drivers License CDL within 6 months of hire. Will be expected to achieve and maintain average production of peers. Must pass insurability investigation into private and business driving record within any consecutive three-year time frame.

Applicants selected for classified positions must undergo or have undergone an ABIFBI criminal history background check fingerprinting administered through sites selected and approved by the MCPSS and State of Alabama Education Department and be declared suitable and fit to teach under state law. Applicants selected must also pass a drug-screening test via forms provided by Human Resources during the selection process.
