The Mechanic B plays a key role in maintaining equipment reliability and supporting plant operations. This experienced-level technician installs, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains production and facility equipment while following all safety, preventive maintenance, and quality standards. The role works with minimal supervision and provides basic training to less experienced team members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safety & Compliance: Promote a strong safety culture, advising others on LOTO, PPE, fall protection, and required procedures. Follow all SOPs and cGMPs to ensure product quality.
  • Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform emergency and scheduled repairs across production and facility equipment. Conduct lubrication, cleaning, inspections, and diagnostics. Support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and continuous improvement activities.
  • Technical Expertise: Electrical: Install wiring/equipment, fabricate parts, test circuits, and troubleshoot electrical systems. Electronics: Diagnose and repair PC boards, relays, I/O modules, VFDs, PIDs, and 4–20 mA devices. Mechanical: Perform advanced troubleshooting, modify and replace components, inspect machinery, and calculate gearbox ratios. Pneumatic/Hydraulic/Steam: Maintain and troubleshoot complex fluid-power and steam systems. Utilities: Support boilers, compressors, HVAC, dust collectors; identify energy-loss issues. Additional Trades: Perform occasional welding, carpentry, plumbing, or related work.
  • General: Use manuals, drawings, and reference materials for troubleshooting. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Perform additional duties as required.

Experience & Education: 5+ years of mechanical, electrical, or electronic maintenance experience preferred. 5+ years in a manufacturing environment preferred. Mechanical/electrical trade background; technical school or Journeyman training preferred. CMMS experience strongly recommended.

Skills & Competencies: Strong communication, teamwork, and mentoring skills. Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and produce basic sketches. Proficient with hand tools, power tools, machine shop tools, and diagnostic equipment. Skilled in root cause analysis and operating machining/welding equipment. Detail-oriented, self-driven, and able to work independently.
