    Job Summary

    The Mechanic Class A - Residence Halls will be responsible for maintenance services in the university residence halls.

    Essential Functions

    • Maintaining, repairing, and installing plumbing fixtures and hardware, such as: faucets, drains, showers, manual and automatic flushometers, sinks, water closets, urinals, valves, and piping.
    • Performing general repair tasks, including: ceiling repair, door repair, installing hardware, lamp replacement, and light fixture repair.
    • Clearing and unclogging drains and repairing leaks.
    • Reading and interpreting mechanical plans and prints.
    • Completing daily work order assignments under minimum supervision.
    • Working at heights greater than 10 feet from ladders, scaffold and lift equipment.
    • Wearing of respiratory protective equipment (annual pulmonary fit test required).
    • Performing additional duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications

    • Minimum of a HS Diploma or GED in or the equivalent combination of education and work experience. (Please review the Equivalency Chart for additional information.)
    • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
    • Must possess a valid driver's license.

    Physical Demands

    • Typically standing, walking
    • Typically bending, crouching, stooping
    • Lifting demands > 50lbs

    Location

    • University City - Philadelphia, PA

    Additional Information

    This is a Full-Time Union position classified as Non-Exempt.  Benefits and compensation are based on the agreed Collective Bargaining Agreement for this position.
