Job Title: Mechanic Helper
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or
- Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with passenger and school bus endorsement and Alabama School Bus Drivers Certificate or obtain within 6 months of employment.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and agree to random drug and alcohol testing as required by the State Department of
Reports To:
Transportation Supervisor
Performance Responsibilities:
- Assists mechanic with repairs and maintenance as
- Assist in mechanical, cleanup, inventory, and simple automotive
- Services buses by checking/adding oil, fuel, tire pressure, and cleaning and repairing seats and
- Assist with upkeep and maintenance of the building including sweeping, mopping, dusting, cleaning restrooms and other related tasks as directed by the Transportation supervisor.
- Drives regular school bus route when assigned driver is
- Assists in maintaining the grounds and shop area of the bus
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or
- Maintain safety standards at all
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of vehicle
- Excellent mechanical
- Ability to follow
- Ability to use power and hand
- Ability to complete assigned tasks in a timely
- Must be able to bend, squat, kneel, and stretch to perform repairs and
- Must be able to lift at least 50
Terms of Employment
12 months, 240 days. Salary to be determined by salary schedule.
