    Job Summary

    This position may qualify for a sign-on bonus.

    Responsible for the maintenance, repairs and preventative maintenance of the Hospital buildings, equipment and physical plant. Does the preventative maintenance of all refrigerators and ice machines. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.

    Responsibilities

    General Functions:

    Performs maintenance on all refrigerated items and keeps a log book pertaining all services done including Freon amounts

    Department/Business Unit Functions:

    Performs preventative maintenance on many types of hospital equipment and a variety of heating and air conditioning equipment

    Replaces light bulbs, fluorescent tubes, switches, plugs, receptacles, ballast, and makes repairs on faucets, commodes, and other duties as needed

    Performs preventative maintenance on all refrigerators, warmers, heating and cooling systems.

    Assumes all responsibility for checking and maintaining and making repairs on:Refrigerators, ice machines, coolers, freezers, boilers, chillers, vacuum pumps, Medical Air

    Compressors and all associated plant equipment

    Runs errands

    Assists in moving furniture, boxes and heavy objects

    Documents all work performed on appropriate logs and work orders

    Works shifts as assigned

    Assumes on - call responsibilities as necessary based on facility's schedule

    Utilizes resources efficiently and effectively

    Maintains safe environment

    Participates in Performance Improvement activities

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM EDUCATION: High School Graduate or equivalent

    PREFERRED EDUCATION: Trade School in mechanical, electrical, or air conditioning

    MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 5 years in a hospital or 7 years similar experience in a industrial environment

    PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 10 years hospital experience

    REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: EPA Refrigerant Recovery Certification. Training certification in mechanical, air conditioning.

    PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: EPA Certification Refrigeration License

    REQUIRED COURSES/ COMPLETIONS (e.g., CPR): NA
