The Mechanic I supports maintenance operations by performing mechanical, electrical, and structural repairs. Assists mechanics, electricians, and mobile technicians in maintaining plant machinery, equipment, and facilities to meet production needs in a safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible manner.

Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
- 7-10 years of mechanical maintenance experience
- Expert knowledge of rotating equipment, hydraulics, and mechanical systems
- Strong leadership and project management skills
- Mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience preferred
- Welding and machining certifications preferred
- High level of safety and quality awareness
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work outdoors in all seasons
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders and work from elevated platforms
- Ability to use hand tools such as shovels, hammers, and wrenches
- Strong problem-solving skills
Responsibilities:
- Lead complex mechanical repairs and equipment overhauls
- Diagnose root causes of recurring equipment failures and develop corrective actions
- Coordinate with engineering and maintenance planning teams
- Provide technical expertise during shutdowns and capital projects
- Mentor mechanics across multiple shifts
- Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards
- Perform additional duties as assigned
