The Mechanic I supports maintenance operations by performing mechanical, electrical, and structural repairs. Assists mechanics, electricians, and mobile technicians in maintaining plant machinery, equipment, and facilities to meet production needs in a safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible manner.

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
  • 7-10 years of mechanical maintenance experience
  • Expert knowledge of rotating equipment, hydraulics, and mechanical systems
  • Strong leadership and project management skills
  • Mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience preferred
  • Welding and machining certifications preferred
  • High level of safety and quality awareness
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work outdoors in all seasons
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders and work from elevated platforms
  • Ability to use hand tools such as shovels, hammers, and wrenches
  • Strong problem-solving skills

Responsibilities:

  • Lead complex mechanical repairs and equipment overhauls
  • Diagnose root causes of recurring equipment failures and develop corrective actions
  • Coordinate with engineering and maintenance planning teams
  • Provide technical expertise during shutdowns and capital projects
  • Mentor mechanics across multiple shifts
  • Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
