TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Two (2) years of experience in diesel engine rebuilding necessary
SPECIAL EQUIPMENT:
- Must own tools for diesel engine repair with rolling cart.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of electrical, air brake, and air conditioning systems desirable
- Must be able to work with minimum supervision.
- Able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
- Able to pass a DOT physical.
LICENSES and CERTIFICATIONS:
- Louisiana Drivers License
- Two (2) years of drug history from previous employer(s)
- Must provide criminal history report.
- Must have a copy of a current Motor Vehicle Report, with no moving violations in the past
three (3) years.
- Will be required to obtain a Class B CDL License with Passenger and Air Brakes
endorsements within ninety (90) days of employment.
- ASE Certification preferred.
RATE OF PAY:
Per Union ContractDEFINITION/DISTINCUISHING CHARACTERISTICS OF JOB:
This position is responsible for maintaining all City buses and other Monroe Transit System vehicles
under the direction of the Director of Maintenance.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
- Removes/repairs/rebuilds ISL, ISC, 8.2 series, 8.3 series Cummins engines; 6V-92TA, 5 series
Detroit Engines; 6.0 L Ford diesel engines; and Allison transmissions.
- Removes/repairs/rebuilds gasoline engines.
- Troubleshoots and repairs electrical systems, automatic transmissions, air brakes, air
conditioning, and other vehicle mechanical systems.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Hours will vary from 5:00 A.M. to 10:00 P.M., Monday through Saturday.DIVISION: TRANSIT /
