Your Regular Responsibilities 

Equipment Responsibility: Manage and maintain a variety of equipment items, including hand tools, safety equipment, shoring, fuel cans, keys, trailers, backhoes, dump trucks, fleet vans, box vans, pickup trucks, and other tools or equipment used for company projects. Ensure that all equipment is in proper working condition and ready for use. 
Preventative Maintenance: Perform comprehensive preventative maintenance tasks, including engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotations and changes, and replacing filters. Oversee more complex maintenance needs like valve adjustments, differential rebuilds, and complete engine overhauls to extend equipment lifespan and reduce downtime. 
Advanced Diagnostics and Repairs: Use advanced diagnostic tools and methods to troubleshoot complex issues in engines, transmissions, hydraulics, and electrical systems. Perform intricate repairs and rebuilds as needed to keep equipment in top condition. 
Communication: Regularly communicate with the Shop Manager regarding the status of equipment repairs and upcoming service needs. Provide information on items that require replacement and assist in determining time frames for repairs that may impact daily operations. 
Driver Concerns and Inspections: Address driver concerns related to equipment performance and safety. Conduct regular inspections and assessments of equipment, responding promptly to any issues or malfunctions. 
Service Records: Maintain accurate service records for each piece of equipment, ensuring that all maintenance is documented according to schedule and all work performed is logged properly. 
Documentation: Provide all purchase paperwork, receipts, service agreements, and warranties to the appropriate personnel for proper record-keeping and compliance. 
Safety Compliance: Ensure that all equipment meets state, federal, DOT, and OSHA safety standards, maintaining a safe work environment for all team members and reducing the risk of accidents. 
Emergency Response: Respond promptly to equipment emergencies, utilizing your expertise to find effective and cost-efficient solutions that minimize downtime and keep projects on schedule. 
Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned to support the maintenance team and ensure the efficient operation of the shop. 
Your Team for Collaboration & Support 
You’ll report directly to the Shop Manager, who reports to the Director of Operations. Your department includes a mix of Level 1 and Level 2 Mechanics whom you may guide on technical challenges. You’ll work closely with drivers, project managers, and other team members to ensure the timely repair and maintenance of all equipment.

Technical Requirements 

High school diploma or GED required; completion of a vocational or technical program in automotive repair, diesel technology, or heavy equipment maintenance is preferred. 
5+ years of automotive repair experience, including hands-on work with both gas and diesel engines and heavy equipment. 
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. 
Must possess necessary tools to perform assigned tasks. 
Advanced knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic components of relevant vehicles and equipment. 
Proficiency with vehicle diagnostic systems and methods, as well as the use of testing equipment, gauges, and tools associated with troubleshooting and repairs. 
Basic computer skills, including familiarity with maintenance software and diagnostic systems. 
Familiarity with precision measurement instruments, oxygen/acetylene equipment, and lifting devices (bottle, floor, wheel, or transmission jacks, floor cranes, etc.) is preferred. 
Qualified or willing to become qualified to perform annual DOT inspections.
