We are seeking a student Mechanic Internto join our team and support the Diesel Mechanics in Richmond, VA!
Schedule:
Monday-Friday (flexible/will work with school schedule)
Compensation:
$18/hour
POSITION MISSION: A Mechanic Intern assists experienced technicians in the inspection, maintenance, and repair of vehicles or equipment. This role is ideal for students or entry-level candidates looking to gain practical experience in automotive or mechanical work.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in performing routine maintenance (oil changes, tire rotations, brake checks)
- Help diagnose mechanical issues using tools and diagnostic equipment
- Support repairs on engines, transmissions, and other vehicle systems
- Supports repairs on small fleet vehicles and trailers
- Clean and organize tools, equipment, and work areas
- Follow safety procedures and company guidelines at all times
- Observe and learn from senior mechanics and technicians
- Maintain basic service records and documentation
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed a program in automotive technology or a related field
- Basic understanding of mechanical systems and tools
- Willingness to learn and take direction
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Familiarity with diagnostic tools and equipment
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment (standing, lifting, etc.)
- Ability to read and understand technical and service manuals
- Valid Virginia driver's license with no more than 7 points, no DUI convictions within past 5 years or pending DUI convictions
