Primary Purpose
Perform major and minor mechanical repairs with minimal supervision to ensure proper performance and safety of district vehicles. Inspect diagnose and repair all types of vehicles including school buses using diesel engines. Safely operate school bus that transports students and other authorized personnel to and from schools or other designated locations as needed. Perform assigned work following established policies and procedures.

Certification
- High School diploma
- GED
- Valid Texas Commercial Drivers License Class A or B with P and S Endorsements
- Texas School Bus Driver Certification (preferred)
- State of Texas Vehicle Inspection Certification (preferred)
Special Knowledge and Skills
- Must have knowledge of diesel and gasoline engine maintenance and repair
- Ability to diagnose mechanical problems and perform repairs with general supervision
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to pass U.S. Department of Transportation alcohol and drug tests and annual physical exam
- Ability to access and use printed service materials
- Ability to communicate effectively with others
- Ability to operate bus
Experience
Two years experience as a school bus mechanic (preferred)
