Job Summary

The main duties of the Mechanic position include performing a full range of repair and modification work on heavy equipment vehicles. This is a full-time position that requires overtime through peak season, reports to the Territory Manager, and has no supervisory responsibility.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform a full range of repair and modification work on heavy equipment vehicles, including but not limited to:
  • Light-duty heavy-duty and Redi-Mix trucks
  • Backhoes
  • Loaders
  • Miscellaneous equipment
  • Repair tires, wheels, wheel bearings, idler wheels, idler bearings, and oil seals
  • Replaces suspension arms, torsion bars, stabilizer bars, etc.
  • Repair hydraulic and air brake systems
  • Determine the nature and extent of repairs required
  • Perform major and minor repairs on engines, power transmissions, transfers, and related electrical, fuel, and hydraulic components
  • Use technical manuals and other publications to identify and order repair parts
  • Operate and inspect machines or equipment to diagnose defects
  • Examine parts for damage or excessive wear using testing equipment such as compression testers, computer software tools, test meters, micrometers, gauges, and overall strong diagnostic skills
  • Test overhauled equipment to ensure operating efficiency before being released to the field
  • Complete welding, run overhead crane lifts, and jacks
  • Willingness to perform duties outside the normal scope of work, i.e., work in poor weather conditions or outside normal hours

Position Requirements

  • Consent to authorization of a pre-employment work screen, Motor Vehicle Record request, and drug test
  • Accreditation from a school of mechanics or 3 plus years working with heavy construction equipment
  • Class B CDL
  • Understand instructions from supervisory positions, both written and verbal
  • Dependability and reliability by showing up to scheduled shifts on time and being prepared for work
