Mechanic

Job Summary

The Mechanic is responsible for maintaining and overseeing the company's fleet of vehicles and small engine equipment, including lawnmowers, trimmers, and other landscaping tools. This hands-on role is ideal for an experienced mechanic who's ready to take the next step into a leadership position.

The Fleet Manager / Lead Mechanic will handle day-to-day repairs, routine maintenance, scheduling, and compliance for all company vehicles and equipment to ensure operations run smoothly and safely.

Schedule: First Shift, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM (flexible)


Key Responsibilities

Hands-On Mechanical Work

  • Perform daily maintenance and repairs on lawn equipment, small engines, and company vehicles.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues efficiently.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace.

Fleet Operations & Maintenance Management

  • Oversee daily use and upkeep of company vehicles and landscaping equipment.

  • Schedule and track routine service and preventative maintenance.

  • Maintain accurate service and repair logs.

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure all fleet operations meet local and state regulations.

  • Keep vehicle registrations, insurance, and inspections current.

  • Promote and enforce safe operating practices for all equipment.

Inventory & Cost Control

  • Monitor parts and supplies inventory; order replacements as needed.

  • Assist in managing maintenance costs and identifying cost-saving opportunities.

  • Coordinate with outside vendors for repairs or services when necessary.

Fleet Lifecycle Management

  • Support decisions regarding equipment repairs, replacements, or upgrades.

  • Help facilitate new vehicle and equipment acquisitions or disposals.


Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of experience as a mechanic, preferably working with small engines or landscaping equipment.

  • Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills.

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

  • Valid driver's license required.

  • Reliable transportation required.

  • Willingness to assist with snow removal as needed.
