The Mechanic is responsible for maintaining and overseeing the company's fleet of vehicles and small engine equipment, including lawnmowers, trimmers, and other landscaping tools. This hands-on role is ideal for an experienced mechanic who's ready to take the next step into a leadership position.
The Fleet Manager / Lead Mechanic will handle day-to-day repairs, routine maintenance, scheduling, and compliance for all company vehicles and equipment to ensure operations run smoothly and safely.
Schedule: First Shift, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM (flexible)
Hands-On Mechanical Work
Perform daily maintenance and repairs on lawn equipment, small engines, and company vehicles.
Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues efficiently.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace.
Fleet Operations & Maintenance Management
Oversee daily use and upkeep of company vehicles and landscaping equipment.
Schedule and track routine service and preventative maintenance.
Maintain accurate service and repair logs.
Compliance & Safety
Ensure all fleet operations meet local and state regulations.
Keep vehicle registrations, insurance, and inspections current.
Promote and enforce safe operating practices for all equipment.
Inventory & Cost Control
Monitor parts and supplies inventory; order replacements as needed.
Assist in managing maintenance costs and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
Coordinate with outside vendors for repairs or services when necessary.
Fleet Lifecycle Management
Support decisions regarding equipment repairs, replacements, or upgrades.
Help facilitate new vehicle and equipment acquisitions or disposals.
1–2 years of experience as a mechanic, preferably working with small engines or landscaping equipment.
Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Valid driver's license required.
Reliable transportation required.
Willingness to assist with snow removal as needed.
