The General Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining a wide variety of mechanical equipment on petroleum and propane vehicles. This role requires strong diagnostic skills, a solid understanding of mechanical systems, and the ability to perform both preventive maintenance and emergency repairs to ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical issues in equipment.
Perform routine preventive maintenance.
Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify problems and recommend solutions.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and parts used.
Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and company procedures.
Order and replace worn or damaged parts and components.
Test equipment after repairs to ensure proper functionality.
Keep the work area clean, organized, and safe.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training preferred.
Proven experience as a mechanic (automotive, industrial, or general equipment).
Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and tools.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
Proficiency with diagnostic equipment and repair tools.
Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Physical stamina and ability to lift 75#.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
Basic understanding of safety standards and procedures.
Must live within 20 miles of Limerick, PA.
Must have a valid drivers license with No DWI/DUI convictions.
Must be able to pass a background check and a drug screen.
Position is in a DOT Cargo tank facility and subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
Must be a US citizen.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification (e.g., ASE for automotive electrical or equivalent).
Experience with both mechanical and electrical systems.
Knowledge of computerized diagnostic systems.
Welding or fabrication skills (optional but beneficial).
Working Conditions:
May work in workshops, garages, or industrial environments.
Exposure to noise, grease, machinery, and various weather conditions.
May require standing, bending, lifting, or working in confined spaces.
Occasional overtime or weekend work may be available.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 75 lbs (or more depending on role).
Prolonged standing, walking, and manual labor.
Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
