Safely drive students to and from school on a schedule assigned by the Transportation Department. Safely transport students and staff to and from district sanctioned activities. Always act in the best interest of the district the students and the community.Major Duties and ResponsibilitiesAble to effect minor repairs on district vehicles i.e. hoses belts bulbs wipers etc.Able to perform general lubrication change filters and fluids and perform PMIs as assigned to include brake pulls.Assist senior mechanics lead mechanic or shop foreman with major vehicle repairs.Maintain accurate and current records of vehicle maintenance and repairs performed.Responsible for the daily trip preparation of buses i.e. fueling and washing as needed.Responsible for upkeep repair replacement and protection of personal tools. Certain large tools and equipment are supplied by the district.Operate any Katy ISD school bus and related equipment in a safe and efficient manner while following all traffic laws district policies district regulations and Transportation Department regulations.Other duties as assigned.Equipment UsedAutomotive diagnostic equipment wheel balancing equipment tire repairing equipment small hand tools drills drill press grinder air-powered tools welding torch torque wrench jacks and lift equipment. School bus and district vehicles two-way radios and telephones. School bus and all related equipment.Working ConditionsWork with frequent interruptions maintain emotional control under stress. Moderate walking standing climbing heavy lifting in excess of 100 pounds carrying stooping bending kneeling and reaching. Work outside and inside around moving objects vehicles and machinery with moving parts. Exposure to heat dampness and humidity toxic chemicals exhaust fumes environmental allergens gasoline and diesel fuel. Prolonged driving and sitting.
