Mechanical and Process Piping Designer

Location: Remote (must reside within 1 hour of Chicago, IL or Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN)

Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Travel: Less than 10%

• 8+ years of mechanical/process piping design experience

• Strong experience with industrial plant piping design and plant layout

• Experience creating piping isometrics and construction drawings

• Ability to interpret engineering documents and client requirements

• Strong communication and organizational skills

• Project coordination or project management experience

• U.S. Citizenship required

Experience with any of the following is a plus:

• AutoCAD Plant 3D

• AutoCAD

• Autodesk ReCap

• Navisworks

• Inventor

• SmartPlant P&ID

• Smart 3D

Software experience is preferred but not required. Training can be provided for candidates with strong industrial piping design backgrounds.

• Design and develop process piping systems for industrial facilities

• Prepare detailed piping layouts, isometric drawings, and construction documents

• Develop and update P&IDs and Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)

• Create 3D models of piping systems, equipment, and instrumentation

• Coordinate with engineers and project teams throughout the design process

• Participate in field visits to collect measurements and document existing conditions

• Support laser scanning activities and integrate scan data into project designs

• Ensure designs comply with applicable codes and industry standards

• Participate in client design reviews and project coordination meetings

• Assist in preparing complete mechanical construction packages

• $35-$45/hour (depending on experience)
