Position Overview
Join a Sugar Land manufacturing team as a Mechanical Assembler. You'll work alongside other assemblers to build mechanical products from individual components, ensuring every part is properly fitted, aligned, and meets quality standards. The ideal candidate has strong technical knowledge, excellent manual dexterity, and the ability to read and follow detailed blueprints and schematics with precision.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions
- Follow established assembly procedures and guidelines
- Gather materials and tools required for assembly
- Take precise measurements to ensure proper fit and alignment of components
- Select and modify parts as needed to meet specifications
- Assemble components into complete units or subassemblies
- Inspect finished products to ensure quality and accuracy
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition
- Track and record production quantities and time
- Identify and report defects, malfunctions, or material issues
- Collaborate with team members on final assemblies
- Perform testing and inspections to verify product quality
Qualifications
- 35 years of mechanical assembly experience
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
- Strong understanding of quality control principles
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Familiarity with standard hand and power tools
- Experience with large machinery a plus
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- High school diploma or GED required
Physical Requirements
- Stand, walk, sit, reach, and stoop for extended periods
- Lift and carry up to 50 lbs; push and pull materials as needed
- Perform repetitive tasks requiring fine motor skills and hand strength
- Kneel, crouch, and climb stairs when necessary
- Adequate vision, including close vision, color recognition, and focus adjustment
Work Environment
- Manufacturing/industrial setting with exposure to equipment and machinery
- PPE required: hearing protection, safety glasses, steel-toe footwear
- Warehouse setting with heat exposure
- Fast-paced, team-oriented environment focused on safety and productivity
