Job Title: Mechanical Assembler
Job Description
The Mechanical Assembler performs precision mechanical assembly and maintenance on large generators in a climate-controlled manufacturing environment. This role uses a wide range of hand and power tools, follows detailed work instructions and standard operating procedures, and supports troubleshooting by learning manufacturer-specific software to diagnose engine and control system issues.
Responsibilities
Perform mechanical assembly on large generators according to established procedures and quality standards.
Use a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively to assemble generator components.
Read and interpret work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and other technical documentation to complete assembly tasks accurately.
Perform maintenance repairs on generators, including disassembly, replacement of parts, and reassembly.
Learn and use manufacturer-specific software to assist in diagnosing engine and control system problems.
Operate overhead cranes to move, position, and secure large components during assembly and repair activities.
Measure and verify parts and assemblies using tools such as tape measures and torque wrenches to ensure proper fit and torque specifications.
Follow all safety guidelines, including proper use of tools, cranes, and equipment in a manufacturing environment.
Maintain a clean and organized work area and properly store tools and equipment after use.
Collaborate with team members and follow direction from leads or supervisors to meet production schedules and quality requirements.
Essential Skills
At least 1 year of mechanical assembly experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or similar environment.
At least 1 year of experience operating an overhead crane.
Proficiency using hand and power tools for mechanical assembly and repair.
Ability to read and follow SOPs, work instructions, or blueprints to complete tasks accurately.
Ability to use basic measuring tools such as tape measures and torque wrenches.
Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
Ability to work safely around large equipment and moving parts.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience using micrometers, scales, pressure gauges, torque wrenches, measuring tapes, and electric meters (volts, ohms, amps).
Ability to read and interpret blueprints or engineering drawings.
Background as an automotive technician, diesel technician, motor assembly technician, HVAC technician, or in a similar skilled trade.
Comfort working with diagnostic tools and software for engines and control systems.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues.

Work Environment
This role is based in a climate-controlled manufacturing environment focused on safety, precision, and quality. Team members work with large generators and use overhead cranes, hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment as part of daily tasks. The position follows structured shifts, with a first shift from 5:00 AM to 2:30 PM and a second shift from 2:00 PM to 12:30 AM. The environment emphasizes adherence to safety procedures, proper use of tools and equipment, and maintaining an organized and professional workspace.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
