Overview
A well-established precision manufacturing and automation equipment company in Morris County, NJ is seeking an Entry-Level CNC Operator to join its machine shop team. This organization designs and builds custom automated machinery and high-precision mechanical systems used in industries such as packaging, consumer goods, food & beverage, and life sciences.
The company is known for its engineering-driven culture, hands-on training environment, and ability to take complex customer requirements from concept through full machine build and integration. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their manufacturing career who wants to grow beyond CNC operation into mechanical assembly, building and integrating the custom automated systems the company is known for.
Key Responsibilities
Operate CNC mills and/or lathes to produce precision components for custom machinery builds

Load materials, run programs, and support machine setup activities under supervision

Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions

Perform in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring tools

Assist senior machinists with setups, adjustments, and job changes

Maintain quality standards and ensure parts meet tight tolerances

Follow all shop safety procedures and maintain a clean work area

Cross-train into mechanical assembly, supporting the build and integration of automated equipment using hand and power tools

Support continuous improvement and efficiency initiatives in the shop



Qualifications
Some experience or exposure to CNC machine operation in a manufacturing environment (internship, co-op, or vocational training acceptable)

Technical school or vocational program coursework in CNC machining, manufacturing technology, mechanical assembly, or a related field preferred

Ability to read blueprints and use basic precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.)

Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and willingness to learn both CNC operation and mechanical assembly

Comfortable working with hand tools and following assembly instructions/drawings
