Electrical Switchgear Assembler

 

Position Summary

Chase Technical Staffing is seeking dependable, mechanically inclined Electrical Switchgear Assemblers to join a growing manufacturing team. This position is responsible for assembling low- and medium-voltage electrical switchgear cabinets according to engineering drawings, blueprints, and customer specifications.

The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, experience using hand and power tools, and the ability to interpret technical drawings and electrical schematics. Previous experience in electrical assembly, mechanical assembly, or industrial manufacturing is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble and construct low- and medium-voltage electrical switchgear cabinets and related components.

  • Interpret assembly drawings, elevation drawings, blueprints, and electrical schematics to ensure accurate assembly.

  • Build and install modular steel cabinets, copper busbar assemblies, and related hardware.

  • Measure, align, position, and secure components according to engineering specifications.

  • Operate manual hand tools, including wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, and measuring tapes.

  • Safely operate power tools such as drills, impact drivers, and pneumatic torque wrenches.

  • Follow work instructions, assembly procedures, and quality control documentation.

  • Inspect completed assemblies to verify proper alignment, secure connections, and overall workmanship.

  • Perform basic measurements and calculations using fractions and decimals.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow established safety procedures.

  • Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and other departments to meet production goals.

  • Maintain consistent attendance, productivity, and quality standards.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred; relevant manufacturing experience will also be considered.

  • Previous experience in electrical assembly, mechanical assembly, switchgear manufacturing, or a related industrial environment preferred.

  • Knowledge of electrical symbols, schematics, and technical drawings.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, assembly instructions, and elevation drawings.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on assembly skills.

  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment.

  • Ability to accurately read a tape measure and perform basic mathematical calculations, including fractions and decimals.

  • Basic computer skills for accessing work instructions and production documentation.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

  • Dependable attendance, a positive attitude, and a strong work ethic.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the workday.

  • Frequent walking, bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements.

  • Ability to lift and move up to 40 pounds regularly.

  • Ability to move items weighing up to 100 pounds with assistance.

  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity when handling tools and components.

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment where noise levels may be elevated.

  • Ability to distinguish colors and visually inspect components, drawings, and completed assemblies.
