Location: Macedonia, OH (Greater Cleveland Area)
Job Type: Full-Time
Shift: First Shift (Monday – Friday) 6:00am-6:00pm
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Assembler / Fabricator to join our manufacturing team. In this dual-function role, you will read and interpret detailed engineering blueprints and schematics to fabricate structural components and assemble custom power distribution coils, dry-type transformers, and reactors. You will combine precision mechanical assembly, wire/conductor winding, metal fabrication, and quality inspection to build high-reliability magnetic components for switchgear, transit, data centers, and renewable energy infrastructure.
Read, interpret, and work directly from complex mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, winding sheets, and bill of materials (BOMs) to determine precise layout and assembly sequences.
Verify material dimensions, wire gauges, core specifications, and insulation requirements prior to fabrication.
Wind, form, and assemble copper and aluminum power distribution coils, layer insulation, and install leads and taps according to exact engineering specifications.
Stack, clamp, and assemble magnetic steel cores, coil assemblies, busbars, structural brackets, and terminal connections using hand tools, torque wrenches, and power tools.
Fit and secure ground straps, insulating barriers, structural supports, and mounting hardware onto transformer and reactor frame assemblies.
Fabricate, cut, punch, bend, and prep metal components, copper/aluminum busbars, and insulating materials using shop tools and machinery.
Operate automated/manual winding equipment, core-stacking tables, and overhead cranes to safely handle heavy sub-assemblies and raw materials.
Prepare assembled coils and cores for Vacuum Pressure Impregnation (VPI) and bake-out oven processing to ensure structural and electrical integrity.
Perform initial dimensional, mechanical, and visual quality checks on completed coils and assemblies using calipers, micrometers, and tape measures.
Troubleshoot mechanical fit issues, alignment discrepancies, or core/coil tight-tolerance challenges during the build process.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace adhering to 5S lean production and OSHA safety guidelines.
Experience: 2–5+ years of experience in electrical/mechanical assembly, coil winding, custom fabrication, or transformer/reactor manufacturing.
Blueprint Proficiency: Strong ability to read and interpret complex mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and engineering specifications.
Tool & Equipment Knowledge: Proficient with hand tools, power tools, torque equipment, precision measuring tools, and material handling equipment (overhead cranes, forklifts, pallet jacks).
Attention to Detail: Excellent manual dexterity and mathematical skills for precise measurements, coil turns, and tight-tolerance fitting.
High school diploma or GED required; technical trade certificate in manufacturing, welding, or electrical assembly is a strong plus.
Forklift and overhead crane safety certifications preferred.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift, move, and position materials up to 50 lbs regularly; ability to stand, bend, stoop, reach, and exert physical effort throughout an 8-hour shift.
Work Environment: Clean, indoor industrial manufacturing plant. Exposure to typical shop conditions including noise, dust, heat from bake-out equipment, and heavy equipment operation.
Safety: Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, steel-toe boots, and protective gloves as designated.
