Mechanical Assembly Operator — Machine Setup and WIP Inspection
We’re looking for a detail‑driven operator who thrives on structure, accuracy, and momentum. If following a BOM, confirming each spec, and keeping machines dialed in sounds like your kind of day, read on.
Role Purpose
Join a team that assembles products according to written and oral instructions while supporting material transactions, in‑process inspection, and final packaging. You’ll work within an ERP‑driven environment, complete process paperwork, maintain a safe and tidy area, and regularly communicate work results, priorities, and progress to management in alignment with company standards, policies, and continuous improvement goals.
Core Responsibilities
- Assemble products to BOMs, work instructions, and job travelers.
- Ensure finished goods meet quality standards; verify conformance to specification(s).
- Perform WIP inspections and document findings.
- Set up production machines; run verification checks and perform equipment inspections.
- Operate production machinery; identify and report machine problems promptly.
- Order materials as needed for current jobs; process material transactions in ERP.
- Package orders for shipment to customers.
- Follow written/oral instructions carefully; maintain neat, orderly work areas.
- Handle other duties as assigned to support throughput.
Tools, Systems, and Documentation
- ERP software for job queues, material movements, and reporting.
- Process paperwork and basic data entry to keep records complete and current.
Physical & Task Requirements
- Standing and walking for 8+ hours per day.
- Lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Climbing step stools/small ladders; bending and stooping as needed.
- Regular use of hand tools (air drivers, wrenches, etc.) and routine problem‑solving.
Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience
- Proficient with basic hand tools.
- Experience operating heavy equipment such as a forklift or lift truck.
- 1 year of related experience preferred.
- Comfort with basic data entry.
Skills
- Can work independently while collaborating effectively on a team.
- High attention to detail; strong hand–eye coordination.
- Good communication; strong reading and math ability.
- Strong work ethic and stamina; basic computer skills; ability to multitask.
