Summary:

• Assembles, installs, tests, checks out, and inspects mechanical spacecraft assemblies by interpreting blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications.

• Performs second party verifications and visually inspects mechanical assemblies to drawings, engineering specifications, and written assembly, integration, and test procedures.

• Operates materials handling equipment including forklifts, overhead cranes, aerial lift equipment, flight vehicle and sub-assembly transportation equipment, and truck/tractor trailer combinations.

• Operates machine tools including drill press, grinders, chop saws, power tools, and hand tools.

• Interfaces with Design and Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing, Materials, Procurement, and Shipping personnel on procedural issues involving design, methods, tooling, cost, and product quality.

• Uses precision measuring tools and equipment such as micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators for dimensional verification.

• Works with adhesives, composites, epoxy, fabrics, honeycomb core, laminates, plastics, and resins for spacecraft assembly.

• Uses structures hand tools, test equipment, torque wrenches, sheet metal brakes, and sheers for assembly operations.

• Works in at least a 100,000 Class Clean Room environment.

• Performs mechanical troubleshooting, disassembly, and repair of component-level space products including avionics boxes, batteries, mechanisms, optics, printed circuit board assemblies, and solar arrays.

Requirements:

• Ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance.

• Must be a U.S. Person (as defined by ITAR).

• High School Diploma or GED.

• More than 5 years of experience with Structures Assembly, Mechanical Assembly, Electrical Assembly, or Final Assembly.

• More than 3 years of experience following written and verbal work instructions.

• More than 3 years of experience working with blueprints, specifications, assembly drawings, and standard operating procedures.

• More than 3 years of experience in setting and using precision measuring tools and equipment such as micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators.

• More than 3 years of experience working with at least one of the following materials: adhesives, composites, epoxy, fabrics, honeycomb core, laminates, plastics, or resins.

• More than 3 years of experience using structures hand tools, test equipment, torque wrenches, sheet metal brakes, and sheers.

• More than 3 years of experience using Microsoft Office Applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• Capable of lifting 20lbs or more on a frequent basis and able to stand, reach, bend, or stoop for extended periods.
