Fives DyAG Corp is seeking a Mechanical Assembly Technician in the Saginaw, MI area.  This is a first shift role.

The Assembly Technician is responsible to perform the majority of assembly operations in building one or more types of units and/or assemblies including standard, special and prototype assemblies.

Scope and Responsibilities:
Essential duties include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Retrieve and studies assembly instructions, detailed part prints, assembly layouts and parts lists.
  • Builds/re-builds, adjusts, dismantles, repairs, cleans, inspects, assembles equipment.  You will also test the equipment and do electrical hookup as needed.
  • Ability to read blueprints and/or electrical schematics.
  • Gather parts/units, tools and/or material from inventory using a supplied material list.
  • Prepare parts prior to assembly. This includes small sized unit assembly work.
  • Follow detailed work instructions on order or assembly operations.
  • Prep and paint components of the machines
  • TIG Weld stainless steel parts when needed
  • Assemble machines/units to current assembly procedures, layouts and parts lists.
    • Use small hand tools (taps, reamers, files, etc.) for assembly process.
    • Use power tools, both air and electrically powered for assembly process.
    • Perform machine set-up/verification of customer's order specifications by inspection and/or measuring:
  • Performs dimensional geometric checkouts of larger units or sub-assemblies on granite
  • Performs proper machine foundation set-ups.
  • Performs various installation or assembly work such as:
    • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
    • Follow safety standards in shop such as:
      • Wearing safety glasses at all times
      • Using other personal protective equipment when required
      • When moving and handling parts using straps, chains, jib and bridge cranes, etc.
Qualifications:
  • High school Diploma.  Associate's Degree or trade school certificate is preferred
  • 2+ years of prior mechanical assembly experience building automated machinery
  • Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints/schematics including hydraulic prints.
  • TIG welding experience with stainless steel
  • Industrial painting experience highly preferred
  • Basis knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, and pipefitting
  • Must be able to operate hand tools, precision measuring instruments, and smaller power tools such as drills and torque wrenches
