Mechanical CAD Designer, Product Customization

Location: Knoxville, TN

Engagement: Contract-to-hire (approximately 6 months on contract prior to conversion)

Picture your first week: you’re embedded with a seasoned engineering team at a well-established manufacturing company, meeting project managers and drafters, and opening a series of standard product drawings. Your mission isn’t to reinvent the wheel—it’s to tailor proven designs so they align perfectly with what each customer needs. You’ll translate specifications into accurate revisions, keep documentation sharp and current, and help move projects from request to release with confidence and speed.

What you’ll do

• Adapt and refine existing product drawings to align with customer specifications and project requirements.
• Produce and update precise technical drawings using AutoCAD and MicroStation.
• Coordinate closely with project managers, drafters, and cross-functional partners to meet both customer expectations and manufacturing constraints.
• Evaluate customer requests and apply changes while upholding established design standards.
• Deliver clear, accurate documentation to support engineering and production teams.
• Manage drawing updates, revisions, and records throughout the project lifecycle.

What you’ll bring

• 2+ years of design experience within a manufacturing, industrial, or engineering setting.
• Hands-on proficiency with AutoCAD and MicroStation; familiarity with 3D and CAD workflows.
• Background modifying existing drawings and technical designs to match customer inputs.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and version control.
• Ability to balance multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-moving environment.
• Clear communicator who collaborates well across departments.
• Associate or technical degree in Drafting, Design, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred (not required).
