    Description

    A day in the life

You start your morning opening a SolidWorks assembly, refining a prototype enclosure while keeping ASME Y14 conventions and GD&T callouts tight. By mid-day, youve collaborated with Electrical and Manufacturing Engineering to review a tooling concept, pushed a clean bill of materials to our ERP via PDM, and documented updates so downstream teams can build with confidence. In the afternoon, youll peer-review a teammates drawings, advise a co-op on datum strategies, and button up a design review for parts heading to production.

    What youll work on

    • Create, revise, and maintain 2D/3D models and drawings in SolidWorks, leveraging Product Data Management to control revisions and release accurate BOMs to ERP.
    • Transform concepts into manufacturable designs in partnership with Development and Manufacturing Engineers; present product and tooling prints that achieve and often exceed design intent.
    • Apply established drafting practices and ASME Y14 standards throughout all documentation.
    • Employ robust GD&T and datum schemes to ensure quality, reliability, and cost-effective production.
    • Incorporate knowledge of plastic molding (highly desirable) when selecting features, tolerances, and fabrication strategies.
    • Serve as a drawing checker and go-to resource for colleagues; mentor co-ops on best practices.

    What youll bring

    • BS in Mechanical Engineering preferred; 2 5 years of relevant experience.
    • Professional certifications (e.g., Certified SolidWorks Professional) are a plus.
    • Hands-on background in industrial/manufacturing settings.
    • Fluency with SolidWorks; experience with AutoCAD and/or Inventor is required.
    • Familiarity with ASME/ISO documentation standards.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    • Self-starter with strong initiative and work ethic; comfortable working independently and in teams.
    • Creative problem solver with excellent communication skills; organized, task-focused, and able to juggle multiple priorities.
