Location: Charlotte, NC (with travel to Hickory or Wilmington sites as needed, around 50%)
Education: BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Mechanical Technology
Minimum Experience: 7+ years experience with manufacturing equipment design and installation. This position requires an experienced designer, not a CAD Tech. Candidates must meet these requirements or will not be considered.
Duration: 1 year (with potential to extend)
Interview Process: 30 minute teams interview, then 60 min Panel interview. Local candidates will be asked to interview for 2nd round onsite. Candidates willing to relocate at their own expense will be considered.
Scope of Position: The Mechanical Engineer will contribute to the development, design, installation, and integration of advanced mechanical equipment for manufacturing processes. This role involves the design, development, and delivery of mechanical equipment and automation solutions to meet performance and reliability criteria. The candidate will leverage their expertise in mechanical design, motion systems, manufacturing assembly techniques, and system integration to drive innovation and continuous improvement, while ensuring safety and industry standards compliance. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders are essential for success in this role.
Ideal Candidate Profile: The ideal candidate is a hands-on mechanical engineer with experience designing, installing, and supporting mechanical equipment in a manufacturing environment. They are comfortable working in the field during equipment build, start-up, and commissioning, and can collaborate effectively with engineers, technicians, contractors, vendors, and plant stakeholders. This person is organized, self-directed, and able to balance technical problem-solving with practical execution to keep projects moving safely and efficiently.
