Job Location: Gosiger Automation - Dayton, OH 45402As a mechanical designer the incumbent must perform ‘Essential Responsibilities' with minimal direct supervision. Incumbent shall be responsible for the complete mechanical design ‘Scope of Work' for automation projects from pre-sale concept and budgets through detailed design and final project implementation. This position is considered a Safety Sensitive position.Responsibilities Pre-Sale Team Member Roles: development of workable automation conceptscreation of system design and layout concept drawingspreparation of budgets for the mechanical ‘Scope of Work' of the program which includes design and detailing labor cost, purchased and fabricated content, estimating assembly costs, mechanical/controls interfacesPost-Sale Team Roles: timely definition, design and procurement of mechanical components and hardware required for the defined ‘Scope of Work'Formal Design: Assemble pertinent facts and design performance criteriaDefine performance attributes such as speed, space constraints, etc.Interact with controls engineers / integrate controls into designsComplete detailed designsDefine and procure cost-effective purchased componentsDefine and procure cost-effective fabricated detailsContact customers and/or suppliers for pertinent design informationMechanical Materials Procurement: Quote and procure purchased componentsBid and procure fabrications and machined detailsIssue orders and coordinate deliveries of mechanical itemsCoordinate, manage and develop supplier baseImplementation Roles: Coordinate / expedite the delivery of purchased mechanical componentsCoordinate / assist the assembly of mechanical hardware and assembliesTroubleshoot performance issuesFinalize ‘as built' documentationOther Aspects: Support long-term resolution of field-service issuesProvide on-site field service support as requiredMaintain division records and files in an orderly mannerBased on business need, assists, supports and/or performs other job functions within department or other work areas within scope and abilityQualifications Two-year mechanical engineering technology and/or mechanical engineering degree required, four-year degree preferredFive to ten years of personal, hands‑on experience in a mechanical design environment:Completing designs using AutoCAD and SolidWorks softwareDesigning automated systems based on industrial robotsDesigning and sizing robot end‑of‑arm toolingDesigning conveyor systems, material handling and pick & place devices to interact with robotsWorking knowledge of cost‑effective alternative machining and fabrication processesDemonstrated project management capabilitiesPersonal characteristics required include:Excellent personal/interpersonal communication skillsAbility to multi‑task and set personal prioritiesInitiative and a personal commitment to setting and meeting deadlinesConsciousness, thoroughness, and accuracyAbility to travel nationwide on short notice up to 25% travelDesirable experience and qualifications:Experience in tool, die and fixture designMachine tool set up and operationIndustrial robot programmingCNC machine tool programmingPerks and Benefits Medical, Dental, and Vision InsuranceShort‑and Long‑Term DisabilityPaid time off and holiday pay401(k) plan with company matchMaternity and Paternity leaveSalary Range $80,000–$100,000#J-18808-Ljbffr
