Our client, an industrial manufacturing company based in Edison, New Jersey, is hiring a Mechanical Design Engineer to support the development of precision equipment used in automated production lines. This role works closely with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality, and procurement to bring new designs from concept through production.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with 3D CAD modeling, tolerance analysis, and design for manufacturability. This is an on-site position requiring regular collaboration with the shop floor to validate designs and troubleshoot production issues.

Responsibilities
Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks
Create detailed engineering drawings and specifications for manufacturing
Perform tolerance stack-up analysis and structural calculations
Collaborate with manufacturing to ensure designs are cost-effective and producible
Support prototype builds and testing of new equipment
Investigate and resolve field issues related to mechanical design
Manage design documentation and revision control
Coordinate with vendors on custom component sourcing
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
4+ years of experience in mechanical design within a manufacturing environment
Proficiency in SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD software
Working knowledge of GD&T and tolerance analysis
Experience with sheet metal, machined parts, and injection-molded components
