Description

Overview Actalent is hiring a Design Engineer to support a leading manufacturer of premium firearm systems and accessories. This position will play a key role in the development of new products from concept through production, working closely with cross-functional teams to design, test, and improve innovative mechanical products. The ideal candidate will have strong CAD experience, a solid understanding of engineering principles, and a passion for product development. Responsibilities Design, develop, and prototype new firearm-related products and accessories. Create detailed engineering documentation, including 3D CAD models, manufacturing drawings, and technical specifications. Perform product testing, validation, and analysis to verify design performance and reliability. Conduct risk assessments and support cost-estimation activities for new product initiatives. Select appropriate materials, finishes, and manufacturing processes to meet design requirements. Utilize GD&T principles to ensure product functionality and manufacturability. Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and interpret results to optimize designs. Collaborate with manufacturing teams to develop efficient and cost-effective production solutions. Identify and implement improvements to existing products for enhanced performance and quality. Provide engineering support to internal teams, including production, sales, and marketing. Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, and operational excellence. Maintain compliance with company safety standards and engineering best practices. Required Qualifications Bachelor"s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline. 4-6 years of mechanical design or product development experience. 3+ years of hands-on experience with SolidWorks and 3D modeling. Strong knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T). Experience performing Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and applying results to design improvements. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a cross-functional team environment. Strong communication skills and ability to interact effectively with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and customers. Self-motivated with excellent problem-solving and organizational abilities. Preferred Qualifications Experience designing firearms, firearm components, or similar mechanical products. Familiarity with machining, metal fabrication, coatings, and manufacturing processes. Experience supporting products through the full lifecycle, from concept to production launch.
