PGS Worldwide is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in Grand Prairie, Texas for a one-year contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. This role supports the design and development of mechanical structures and assemblies for advanced products and prototype systems. The position focuses on Creo-based design, 3D modeling, design documentation, GD&T application, and coordination with cross-functional teams to support product development and manufacturability.
Required Skills
- At least 3 years of experience with Creo design
- At least 2 years of experience with Windchill PLM/PDM
- Experience with mechanical primary and secondary structures
- At least 1 year of experience with concept development
- At least 1 year of experience preparing design review content
- At least 4 years of experience creating finished 3D models
- At least 2 years of experience with GD&T
- At least 2 years of experience with complex mechanical and electrical concepts
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Model-Based Definition
What You’ll Do
- Design major components or portions of functional systems, prototypes, and other products
- Develop and improve products to support performance and manufacturing operations
- Create preliminary layouts, sketches, notes, and design proposals
- Investigate design factors such as manufacturability, material availability, interchangeability, replaceability, strength-to-weight efficiency, contractual requirements, and cost
- Coordinate with other organizations affected by design development
- Create layouts of assemblies and detail parts of devices, mechanisms, structures, and products
- Review layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, standards compliance, and dimensional accuracy
- Identify design errors, omissions, and deficiencies and recommend revisions or improvements
- Support design reviews and final 3D model development in a structured engineering environment
