We are seeking experienced Mechanical Engineers to support the design and development of automation equipment and BIW tooling for a major automotive manufacturing program. This role is ideal for engineers with a strong mechanical design background, extensive CATIA experience, and knowledge of body-in-white (BIW) tooling and automated assembly systems.
This is a hands-on engineering position working closely with cross-functional teams to design, validate, and support custom automation equipment from concept through installation.
Responsibilities
Design and develop mechanical systems, tooling, and automation equipment using CATIA.
Create 3D models, detailed manufacturing drawings, and engineering documentation.
Develop innovative design concepts for automated assembly and manufacturing systems.
Perform engineering calculations, tolerance analysis, and design validation.
Support prototype builds, testing, and equipment validation.
Collaborate with controls, electrical, manufacturing, and project engineering teams.
Work with suppliers and vendors to ensure designs are manufacturable and meet project requirements.
Review drawings, BOMs, and specifications for accuracy and quality.
Track engineering changes and maintain project documentation throughout the design lifecycle.
Support equipment installation, launch activities, and engineering changes as required.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
Approximately 10 years of mechanical design experience.
Advanced proficiency with CATIA and 3DEXPERIENCE CATIA.
Strong experience designing BIW tooling.
Understanding of GD&T, manufacturing processes, and machine design.
Experience designing automation equipment, tooling, or general assembly systems.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Automotive manufacturing experience.
Experience supporting Honda or other OEM design standards.
Knowledge of automated assembly systems and industrial manufacturing.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
Schedule
Standard schedule of 40–45 hours per week.
Overtime available, with workloads reaching 50–55 hours per week during installation and launch.
