Mechanical Design Engineer | Charlotte, NC (Hybrid)

Tired of designing the same HVAC system over and over?

If your current role feels like Revit. CAD. Repeat., it might be time for something different.

We're looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer who wants more than simply producing drawings. This is an opportunity to work on technically challenging projects, collaborate with talented people, and build a long-term career with a firm that values innovation, mentorship, and growth.

Why Engineers Love This Opportunity

You'll work on projects that keep you challenged.

No two projects are alike. You'll gain experience designing mechanical systems for:

  • Mission Critical & Data Centers
  • Healthcare
  • Life Sciences & Laboratories
  • Commercial Buildings
  • Higher Education
  • Advanced Manufacturing
  • Science & Technology Facilities

If you're looking for more variety and more technical complexity, you'll find it here.

You'll do more than just design.

Work directly with architects, owners, and multidisciplinary engineering teams from concept through construction. Your ideas and technical expertise will help shape projects—not just produce them.

Leadership that invests in people.

Whether your goal is to become a Project Manager, Technical Lead, Department Manager, or Associate, you'll have multiple opportunities to grow your career with experienced leaders who enjoy mentoring and developing engineers.

A culture that actually feels genuine.

No forced fun. No corporate buzzwords.

Just a collaborative team, supportive leadership, an energetic Uptown Charlotte office, and people who genuinely enjoy working together.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Design HVAC and mechanical building systems for a wide variety of commercial projects.
  • Perform heating and cooling load calculations and equipment selection.
  • Design chilled water, hot water, air distribution, ventilation, and hydronic systems.
  • Coordinate with architects and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Participate in projects from schematic design through construction administration.
  • Mentor junior engineers and designers as your career progresses.
  • Solve challenging engineering problems and contribute innovative ideas.
  • Build your career in the direction that interests you—technical leadership, project management, or people leadership.

What You'll Receive

  • Hybrid schedule
  • Monday–Thursday in the office
  • Remote half-day every Friday
  • Competitive compensation
  • 5% 401(k) match
  • Cell phone reimbursement
  • 3–4 weeks PTO plus 9 paid holidays
  • Beautiful Uptown Charlotte office
  • Professional development and continuing education
  • Leadership committed to your long-term success
  • Clear path toward Project Manager, Technical Lead, Department Manager, or Associate-level leadership

Who We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5+ years of MEP consulting experience
  • Experience designing HVAC and mechanical systems for commercial buildings
  • Revit experience preferred
  • PE or EIT is a plus
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Someone looking for greater technical variety, increased responsibility, and long-term career growth

Why Make the Move?

Experienced mechanical engineers have plenty of options.

This opportunity simply offers more:

  • More challenging projects
  • More technical variety
  • More opportunities for advancement
  • Better work-life balance
  • Hybrid flexibility with remote half-day Fridays
  • Leadership that genuinely enjoys developing engineers
