Step into a day where models become mechanisms and ideas become manufacturable reality. As a Mechanical Design Engineer on our team, you’ll translate requirements into elegant designs, validate performance through prototyping and analysis, and guide components seamlessly into production. You’ll work in a fast-paced environment where your judgment, curiosity, and attention to detail push the boundaries of mechanical engineering.
Morning: Convert customer and internal requirements into detailed CAD models and drawings (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Creo). Plan prototype builds and define test methods to verify function, reliability, and performance against specifications.
Midday: Huddle with manufacturing, quality, and procurement to review design-for-manufacture, tolerances, materials, and cost drivers. Communicate technical findings to stakeholders, manage the project schedule, and align deliverables with program milestones.
Afternoon: Oversee prototype fabrication and testing, analyze results, and iterate quickly. Support the transition from design to production, partnering closely with CNC machining teams to resolve line issues and strengthen process capability. Drive continuous improvements that elevate efficiency and reduce cost.
All day, every day: Keep documentation crisp and current—models, drawings, specifications, and process instructions. Ensure every design complies with applicable industry standards and regulations, and adhere to Rand’s AS9100 Quality Management System.
