Job Description

The Mechanical Design Engineer will support the development of modular systems for hyperscale data center programs and the processes used to assemble and deploy them.

This position works across product design, production planning, manufacturing, and construction. The work includes developing parametric facility layouts, analyzing production capacity, evaluating assembly sequences, and creating repeatable production processes.

The Mechanical Design Engineer will work alongside senior engineers and collaborate with product teams, trade partners, vendors, and construction teams. The role also includes time at construction and manufacturing sites to verify assembly methods, refine designs, and incorporate field lessons into future product and process improvements.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Developing 2D layouts and parametric models for modular integration facilities, including bay sizing, material staging, platform space, and production capacity
  • Analyzing production rates and working with trade partners to improve 5S layouts, material flow, equipment usage, and staging strategies
  • Simulating, evaluating, and improving assembly methods and installation sequences
  • Developing Product Maps, Product Production Plans, and Process Maps for new products and production processes
  • Supporting the concurrent design of products and the processes used to manufacture, assemble, and install them
  • Reviewing designs for constructability, repeatability, production capacity, and field use
  • Coordinating work with product teams, engineers, trade partners, vendors, and construction teams
  • Visiting construction and manufacturing sites to verify assembly logic and gather information for future design improvements
  • Maintaining engineering documentation, models, and project deliverables
  • Helping improve the tools and processes used across product and production programs

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related engineering field

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with SolidWorks, including parametric and assembly modeling
  • Familiarity with Revit or BIM environments
  • Knowledge of design for manufacturing and assembly principles
  • Familiarity with 5S, assembly sequencing, material flow, or other lean manufacturing practices
  • Experience with production simulation tools
  • Experience with modular construction or prefabrication
  • Experience with production planning or process mapping
  • Experience developing bills of materials
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, manufacturing information, and construction documents
  • Experience coordinating work across design, engineering, construction, vendor, and trade-partner teams
  • Experience supporting data centers, mission-critical infrastructure, or other large-scale industrial programs
  • Hands-on experience at construction or manufacturing sites
  • Strong organization, communication, and follow-through
  • Ability to manage priorities and assigned deliverables with limited day-to-day oversight
  • Willingness to travel to construction and manufacturing sites for field verification

Candidates are not expected to have experience in every area listed above. We are interested in individuals with a strong mechanical engineering foundation who want to develop their experience across product design, production planning, and field execution.
