Mechanical Design Manufacturing Engineer, Energy Products

Tesla is hiring a highly motivated, hands-on Mechanical Engineer for the Energy Manufacturing Engineering team - helping build a world of amazing abundance through scalable, sustainable energy solutions. You'll collaborate cross-functionally to design, build, and optimize high-quality, efficient manufacturing equipment and processes that power Tesla Energy products at scale. • Develop manufacturing equipment, fixtures, and workstations to support prototype builds, early production, and medium-to-high-volume ramp (including conceptual design, layout optimization for product flow, ergonomics, and efficiency)
• Identify, specify, and procure necessary equipment and tooling for all manufacturing processes
• Balance product specs, process requirements, layout complexity, cost, and lead-time when conceptualizing and developing equipment
• Collaborate with equipment integrators and vendors to design, build, and deliver custom equipment and fixtures for scaled production
• Provide DFM (design for manufacturability) feedback to the design team to improve process capability, yield, and quality
• Support equipment builds, installation, debugging, validation, duplication, and fine-tuning to achieve production readiness
• Conduct thorough testing, validation, and acceptance testing (FAT/SAT) of installed machinery, both on-site and off-site to ensure robustness, reliability, and quality standards
• 2+ years of experience as Mechanical/Mechatronics/Automation Engineer with focus in automation, machine design, robotics, and product development
• Experience using 2D CAD tools for conceptual line design (AutoCAD) and 3D design for mechanical equipment, fixturing, and tooling (SolidWorks or CATIA)
• Experience transitioning products and processes from prototype to production
• Experience with conveyance, transducer-based fastening systems, robotic systems (prefer Fanuc)
• Experience creating technical specifications for automated manufacturing equipment
• Experience providing Design for Manufacturability and Automation
• Degree in mechanical engineering or a similar field, or equivalent experience

Expected Compensation

$91,600 - $164,400/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
