Sterling Engineering is hiring a Mechanical Designer for a growing OEM manufacturer of custom industrial equipment. This is a great opportunity to work on highly engineered, custom-built machinery from concept through production while expanding your machine design expertise using SolidWorks. You'll collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, sales, and suppliers while seeing your designs come to life in a modern manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop custom industrial machinery and process equipment using SolidWorks 3D CAD
- Create detailed manufacturing drawings and engineering documentation
- Support new product development and engineering design projects
- Analyze, develop, and test equipment designs to meet customer specifications
- Configure custom equipment based on project requirements
- Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) for manufacturing
- Collaborate with Manufacturing and Sales teams throughout the design process
- Process Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs)
- Troubleshoot design issues and implement corrective actions to improve product performance
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on manufacturability, quality, and efficiency
Qualifications
- Must have an Associate degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline or equivalent professional experience
- Must have experience using SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software
- Must have experience with AutoCAD or comparable 2D drafting software
- Ability to create detailed engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation
