Mechanical Design Project Engineer

Are you a Mechanical Engineer who enjoys taking a design from concept through production and seeing your work come to life on the manufacturing floor?

Our client is seeking a Mechanical Design Project Engineer to join its Oklahoma City engineering team. This position combines hands-on mechanical design with project engineering, giving you the opportunity to develop heavy-equipment systems and components while supporting projects from initial concept through manufacturing and completion.

You will work closely with other engineers, customers, vendors, management, and shop-floor teams to develop practical engineering solutions that meet performance, quality, schedule, and budget requirements.

What You Will Do

• Design, develop, and test mechanical and electromechanical systems and components.
• Support engineering projects from concept through completion, helping ensure they meet technical requirements, quality standards, schedules, and budgets.
• Develop heavy-equipment designs using customer requirements, engineering standards, specifications, and industry best practices.
• Create and modify 3D CAD models and 2D engineering drawings for components and assemblies.
• Work with SolidWorks and/or Autodesk Inventor to support mechanical design and development.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers and other technical teams to ensure successful integration of mechanical and electrical systems.
• Evaluate Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and execute Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
• Participate in engineering design reviews and incorporate technical feedback into design improvements.
• Develop project schedules, technical reports, project updates, and supporting engineering documentation.
• Work directly with manufacturing personnel to troubleshoot issues and provide engineering support on the shop floor.
• Communicate with customers, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders throughout project execution.
• Occasionally travel to customer sites, vendor locations, and other company facilities.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on Mechanical Engineer who enjoys both design work and project ownership. You should be comfortable working in an environment where engineering and manufacturing work closely together and where you can see the real-world results of your designs.

You will have:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited institution.
• Minimum 2 years of related engineering experience.
• Proficiency with CAD software; SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor preferred.
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles.
• Familiarity with engineering analysis tools, including FEA and CFD.
• Basic project management experience, including scheduling and task coordination.
• Strong technical problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with engineering, manufacturing, customers, and vendors.
• Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a cross-functional team.
• Experience with a manufacturing ERP system such as Oracle or SAP is preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
