Title: Mechanical Designer (Industrial)

Sterling Engineering is looking for a Mechanical Designer (Industrial). This opportunity is with a leading organization supporting large-scale industrial and data center projects.
Job Duties:
Utilize SmartPlant 3D or similar design software to create 3D equipment models based on equipment drawings
Perform early-stage project design work
Develop and maintain 3D models for mechanical systems and piping
Create and interpret P&IDs, schematics, and detailed design drawings
Route piping within 3D design software and support piping layout development
Support multiple projects as needed
Qualifications:
Minimum 4 years of mechanical design experience, including 3D modeling and design documentation
Strong knowledge of piping systems and piping support design
Experience with 3D piping design and routing required
Experience with mechanical systems for data centers (chilled water systems, CRAH units, CDUs) highly preferred
Experience drafting P&IDs, schematics, and related drawings
Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in CAD or related field preferred with 4+ years of experience
High School diploma or GED with 8+ years of relevant experience considered
Proficiency in SmartPlant 3D preferred; experience with AutoCAD and MicroStation is a plus
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams)
Ability to work onsite if located near an office or fully remote
