This is a full-time, on-site role for a Mechanical Drafter/Designer, based in Springfield, OH. The primary purpose of this position is to assist in engineering custom equipment used in the metal casting industry. They must be a flexible, results-oriented problem-solver. Projects generally vary from one to the next, therefore our Engineering team must thrive on variety and enjoy taking on new challenges. This position also works closely with our production team and customers. Some travel may be required (up to 10%). Candidates must be able to travel around and outside the U.S. via automobile and airplane. A strong, experienced candidate could earn up to $70,000 per year.
Position responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Assist the Engineering Team as needed and assigned
Provide application engineering support and cost projections for Sales
Utilize SolidWorks design software to perform engineering and design tasks
Utilize AutoCAD for simple layouts and to reference archived data
Leverages other design tools to ensure work is completed efficiently
Conducts research & development for new products
Drives implementation of standardization and modularization of product lines
Assis with analysis, development, and production of new and current designs
Always represents Palmer in a positive and professional manner
Candidate qualifications:
Bachelor’s or associate degree with 0-2 years of mechanical engineering experience
3D modeling experience utilizing SolidWorks required
SolidWorks PDM experience preferred
Working knowledge of AutoCAD required
Industrial machine shop or industrial manufacturing experience preferred
Foundry operations or bulk material handling experience preferred
Project Management experience preferred
Familiarity with ERP Systems, SAP preferred
Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word) and Adobe Acrobat
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Strong organizational and detailed analytical skills
Ability to handle multiple projects and complete work in a timely manner with minimal supervision
Proven ability to initiate and support change to the organization
Ability to interact with all levels of management
Physical requirements: sit/stand/walk for extended periods (i.e., meetings, travel, site visits); navigate stairs multiple times per day; bend, kneel, reach overhead, etc. to collect data from storage locations (i.e., file cabinets)
