Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer 1 supporting a leading global manufacturing organization. This is a long-term 24-month contract role based onsite in Seguin, TX. The position offers excellent exposure to manufacturing, product design, and quality engineering teams while contributing to new product introduction and current product improvement initiatives. Compensation is up to $30/hr + full benefits, including health, dental, vision, 401(k), and holiday pay.
Job Summary
We are seeking an entry-level Mechanical Engineer to support engine assembly manufacturing operations and new product introduction programs. This role will focus on troubleshooting manufacturing and quality issues, supporting prototype and pilot builds, coordinating on-engine fitups, and collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams to improve product quality and manufacturability.
The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and the ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and product design teams to troubleshoot safety, quality, and production issues
  • Coordinate and support on-engine fitups for new component designs
  • Provide design-for-manufacturing support during prototype and pilot builds
  • Gather and document manufacturing and quality concerns for communication with offsite engineering teams
  • Research, analyze, and support implementation of mechanical design improvements
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications
  • Assist with root cause investigations and corrective action activities
  • Support engineering documentation and reporting activities
  • Work both at a desk and on the manufacturing floor while adhering to PPE and safety requirements
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline
  • 0–2 years of engineering experience (internships accepted)
  • Understanding of 3D modeling concepts and engineering drawings
  • Ability to read and interpret prints and technical specifications
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Self-starter with strong accountability and time management skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with manufacturing or assembly environments
  • Exposure to root cause analysis and troubleshooting methodologies
  • Familiarity with Teamcenter or similar PLM systems
  • Knowledge of Office 365 collaboration tools
  • Internship or project experience in design engineering, manufacturing engineering, quality engineering, or design-for-manufacturing
Work Environment
  • Fully onsite role in Seguin, TX
  • Monday–Friday schedule, typically 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Some schedule flexibility available, including potential 4x10 schedules
  • Approximately 50% desk work and 50% manufacturing floor support
  • PPE required on the production floor (safety glasses, bump cap, safety shoes)
