Job Role- Mechanical Engineer 2
Location: Lafayette IN Building A
Role Summary
This position is a Mechanical Engineer role within the Product Support Team , supporting current CPI programs and projects. The role primarily focuses on factory support, product quality, and engineering change implementation for Gas 3600 and Diesel C280 engine platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as engineering liaison between:
- Manufacturing shop
- Quality teams
- Supply chain
- Design engineering teams
- Support Built In Quality (BIQ) initiatives to resolve factory build issues
- Review engine orders and implement approved design improvements on existing orders
- Act as Job Change Agent (JCA) :
- Review and approve design change requests
- Ensure proper documentation and execution
- Coordinate smooth implementation with no production or quality disruptions
- Support Bill of Materials (BOM) accuracy
- Ensure shipment of high quality products and support field population
Required Qualifications
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (required)
- Experience:
- 1 4 years of experience preferred
- Internships and co op experience are fully acceptable
- Technical Skills:
- Mechanical engineering fundamentals
- Mechanical aptitude related to engines, automotive, or heavy equipment
- Experience or exposure to manufacturing environments is beneficial
- Familiarity with CAT systems / Teamcenter is a plus (not mandatory)
Preferred Background (Flexible)
- Hands on mechanical experience (including personal hobbies such as:
- Working on vehicles
- Farming or mechanical equipment)
- Experience does not need to be from paid roles personal experience is valued
Advanced Degrees
- Master's or PhD is not required
