Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for a
Mechanical Engineer 2 in Mossville, IL. The work will be done
100% onsite, with a typical flexible 8-hour workday. This is a
24-month position that can lead to permanent employment with our client. The position may require
limited travel (up to 25%, with anticipated travel to Seguin, TX approximately once per year). Compensation is
up to $37/hr + full benefits (vision, dental, health insurance, 401k, and holiday pay).
Job Summary
The Mechanical Engineer 2 will support a
large-product quality team, leading projects focused on resolving field product quality issues and improving customer experience. This individual will work cross-functionally with service engineering, design, product support, manufacturing, suppliers, and customer-facing teams to investigate product concerns and implement production and service solutions. The role will also support
New Product Introduction (NPI) activities by assessing carry-over risk and analyzing warranty information, while using data analytics and dashboards to improve visibility into product quality trends.
Key Responsibilities- Lead cross-functional projects addressing field and customer product quality issues.
- Drive projects through the DMAIC / Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) process to deliver production and service-part solutions on time and within cost targets.
- Review warranty information, customer feedback, and quality trends to identify and contain product issues.
- Collaborate with engineering, product support, suppliers, dealers, customers, and other business units to investigate issues and communicate project results.
- Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards used to monitor product quality trends.
- Support NPI programs by assessing potential carry-over risks associated with new product designs.
- Help develop product support programs, technical publications, and field communications related to quality resolutions.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or an equivalent technical discipline with 2+ years of relevant experience.
- Candidates with a 2-year technical/engineering degree and 6+ years of relevant experience may also be considered.
- A Master's degree still requires at least 2 years of relevant experience.
- Relevant internship experience may count toward the experience requirement.
- Strong technical understanding, data analytics, and issue management capabilities.
- Demonstrated project management/project leadership experience, including managing multiple projects and leading cross-functional teams.
- Experience with data visualization/analytics tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across engineering and customer-facing organizations.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience with quality systems and Continuous Product Improvement.
- CPI Master, Master Black Belt, or Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
- Experience with DMAIC methodologies.
- Engine design or development experience.
- Supplier relationship management experience.
- Technical validation experience, including DFMEA and DOE.
- Strong interpersonal skills and experience communicating with senior leadership.
- Experience supporting complex mechanical products, engines, heavy equipment, or similar industrial products.
