Work ArrangementThis is an onsite position in Tampa, FL, Huntsville, or Northern, VA.Job OverviewA Mechanical Engineer 2 is responsible for designing, analyzing, and improving mechanical systems and components.Essential FunctionsSupport the planning and performing engineering research, design, and development in conformance with design, engineering, and customer specificationsIdentify and document requirement through customer interfaceCreate and review Mechanical CAD drawings and component layout designsCreate, review, and maintain assembly drawings for enclosures, circuit boards, internal and external cable assemblies, etc.Design and support tooling, fixtures, and jigs for prototype builds, test, and low-rate productionApply DFx principles (DFM, DFA, DFS, DFR) to improve manufacturability, assembly, reliability, serviceability, and costSupport rapid prototyping (3D printing, composites, machined parts) and hands‑on integrationAssist with conducting tolerance analysis, basic structural trade studies, and environmental considerationsSupport build, integration, and flight test activities; rapidly troubleshoot mechanical issuesUtilize industry and/or military specifications for Shock, Vibration, Temperature and Humidity requirements to develop and validate productsSupport the creation and maintenance of engineering documentation (drawings, user instructions, bill of materials, etc.)Support manufacturing with aiding in work instruction generation, technical guidance on process settings and aid in development/implementation of new manufacturing test/build equipment as neededSupport production/fabrication by working closely with technicians on product buildOther duties as assignedStandard Essential FunctionsRegular and reliable attendance on a full time basis [or in accordance with posted schedule].Responsible for exhibiting professional behavior with both internal and external business associates that reflects positively on the company and is consistent with the company's policies and practices.Embodies AEVEX's cultural values and aligns daily actions with department goals and company culture.QualificationsFamiliarity with 2D or 3D engineering design and manufacturing tools (e.g., AutoCAD, ProE or other)Familiarity with GD&T and engineering drawing standardsFamiliarity with engineering analysis tools (ANSYS, ProMechanica or similar)Proficient knowledge of SolidworksDetail oriented and capable with working in a team environmentStrong verbal and written communication skillsEducation / CertificationsBachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or other related discipline.Experience3-6 years of mechanical engineering experience.Physical RequirementsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
