OverviewHDR is seeking a Mechanical/Senior Mechanical Engineer to join one of the largest Tech, Media and Telecom (TMT) practices, focusing on mechanical design for Data Center and other Mission Critical facilities. Opportunities are available in these preferred locations: US: Atlanta, Austin, Bellevue, Boise, Charlotte, Chicago, Columbus, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Kansas City, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Newark, New York, Omaha, Orlando, Pennington, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, Portland, Raleigh, Sacramento/Folsom, Salt Lake City, San Antonio, Walnut Creek; UK: London, Manchester, Glasgow.This person will be part of an integrated team responsible for the mechanical design in support of Data Center and other Mission Critical buildings and infrastructure.This individual should also have a desire to mentor and train younger mechanical engineers. The Data Center Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for designing projects from start to finish. This will include coordinating and working closely with clients, project managers, electrical team members, architects, other engineering disciplines, contractors, marketing members, and all other team members. They will be responsible for developing feasibility reports, construction documents, specifications, engineering calculations, and performing RFI responses, shop drawing reviews, site investigation and overall construction administration. Passion, self-motivation, and strong leadership skills are a must to deliver technically excellent design solutions for our clients. Additional responsibilities include:ResponsibilitiesCoordinate the work of the mechanical design team through the schematic design development and contract document phase of a projectEstablish meetings and participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code complianceCoordinate workload to complete the document on scheduleConduct work sessions at the project site in conjunction with the Project Manager and other disciplinesReview mechanical documents for areas of conflict with all disciplinesWrite and edit mechanical specifications, selects equipment, mechanical systems and devicesCoordinate with and assist affected disciplines with addenda, RFIs, CPRs and change orders, and take responsibility to incorporate agreed-upon changes into the project documentsProvide construction contract administration as neededConduct QA/QC on the work of other Mechanical Project Engineers, Mechanical Project Coordinators or Mechanical CAD Technicians as neededPerform other duties as neededPreferred QualificationsMaster's degree in Architectural Engineering with Mechanical emphasisA minimum of 3 years experience in mechanical system design of commercial or institutional buildingsData Center/Mission Critical facilities design experienceExperience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED desired but not requiredRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Mechanical EngineeringPrevious experience in mechanical system design of commercial or institutional buildingsProfessional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) licenseExperience in commercial or institutional facilitiesComputer experience using MS Office, Trane TRACE or similar software, manufacturer selection softwarePrevious experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firmAn attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a mustWhat We BelieveHDR is our company.
