Mechanical Engineer

Basic Job Functions:

The Maintenance Mechanical Engineer will work directly with maintenance and production teammates on continuous improvement projects. Responsibilities will include engineering design, calculations, and project scheduling and planning using Microsoft Office applications and other relevant tools. This role will manage multiple projects simultaneously, working both independently and collaboratively with other teammates and with minimal supervision to meet established deadlines. The position primarily follows a straight-day, Monday-through-Friday work schedule but may require weekends, overtime, holidays, or temporary turn coverage as needed. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Requirements:

B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering

Experience with 2D/3D CAD Software

Engineering and Technology Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to work at hand.

Preferences:

Experience using AutoDesk Inventor and Vault

FEA and Structural experience

Design experience

Laser scanning experience, such as Point Cloud

2 years of steel mill experience
