PGS Worldwide is seeking a Mechanical Engineer in Chelmsford, MA for a one-year contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company.
The Mechanical Engineer will support the design, development, manufacture, testing, and verification of complex microwave electronics subsystems. This role focuses on electronics packaging, circuit card assemblies, printed circuit boards, cabling, mechanical design documentation, and hands-on product development in a multidisciplinary RF/microwave, analog/digital, mechanical, and thermal engineering environment.
Required Skills
- Associate degree with 10+ years of experience, or equivalent mechanical engineering experience.
- Experience with electronic packaging for military applications.
- Experience with design and documentation of circuit card assemblies.
- Experience with printed circuit boards.
- Experience with cabling design and documentation.
- Experience with CREO.
- Experience with Windchill.
- Knowledge of GD&T.
- Familiarity with Change Board processes.
- Familiarity with documentation control.
- Ability to support design, analysis, research, development, and testing across multiple engineering disciplines.
- Ability to support electronics packaging design, testing, and verification of microwave electronics components and subsystems.
- Ability to work on complex technical problems requiring innovative solutions.
- Must be able to obtain an interim clearance and Secret clearance, or have a current active Secret clearance.
Preferred Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience with electronics packaging for microwave electronics.
- Zuken experience.
- Hands-on experience building and testing electronic assemblies.
- Experience manufacturing, troubleshooting, and performing root cause analysis on electronic assemblies.
- Knowledge of materials and processes used in electronics.
- Experience with RF/microwave electronics, thermal engineering, mechanical packaging, circuit card assemblies, PCB design support, cabling, ESS testing, aerospace electronics, and defense electronics.
What You’ll Do
- Support design, development, and manufacturing of complex microwave electronics subsystems.
- Perform electronics packaging design for microwave electronics components and subsystems.
- Support testing and verification of electronics packaging designs.
- Create and maintain mechanical design documentation for circuit card assemblies, printed circuit boards, and cabling.
- Use CREO and Windchill to support engineering design and documentation workflows.
- Support Change Board processes and documentation control.
- Work with RF/microwave, analog/digital, mechanical, and thermal engineering teams.
- Support hands-on product development and test activities.
- Assist with manufacturing support, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis of electronic assemblies.
- Contribute to planning and advancement of aerospace products and technologies.
